So, rather than the usual Monday morning check-in (for those of you following that, it is pretty much the same as it was last week), I thought I would announce the small contest I have put together to celebrate the anniversary of my blog. This will be a writing contest (shocked right?).
The details are listed below.
GENRE: Open
LENGTH: FLASH (less than 1k words)
THEME: Anniversaries
DEADLINE FOR ENTRY: May 26, 2011 (Midnight EST)
PRIZE: 1st place will receive a FREE print copy of Cutlass and Musket: Tales of Piratical Skullduggery (signed by one of the featured authors -- that being me)
First and second place entries will be "published" on this blog and will have their story advertised by me on my website, and twitter (so hopefully it should get some readers) All rights remain with the author and they are free to submit or post elsewhere at their discretion.
Entries can be mailed to rebecca(at)rebeccahartwriting(dot)com
Looking forward to reading some interesting entries.
Awesome! I wanna win a signed copy of the anthology. Wahn! I wanna win! Ha!
ReplyDeleteJust impress me with your flashings :P hrmm -- interesting...
ReplyDeleteIf all it takes is a little flash .... ha!
ReplyDeleteAwesome idea, Rebecca :-) You'll have so much fun on the other side of the fence :-)
ReplyDeleteBe careful what you ask for, Rebecca… I should dig up my noir detective flash from years ago just to make you cringe from all the cliches.
ReplyDeleteGrats on the 1 year anniversary. Show's your resiliency. :)
This is such an excellent idea! I wish I didn't hold a deep, ingrained and entirely irrational fear of writing flash, or even short stories. I think there's something wrong with me!
ReplyDeleteI started something today. I'm about a third the way in. I'm starting to worry that the two thirds I have left won't be enough. Might have to post it to scrib for help. You, however, shall not be allowed to look--not until I send it to you. Ha! :)
ReplyDeleteI will endeavor to be patient :)
ReplyDeleteChris: Go for it -- I know how whacked you are. :P
How hard is this "1k word limit" and what program will you be using to determine the word count? It seems every program is slightly different at counting...
ReplyDelete1k or less (hard limit) I am using MS word for the count -- so whatever that says.
